The Angolan Internet Association (AAI) expresses its strong concern regarding the serious irregularities reported during the AFRINIC elections held on 23 June 2025 in Mauritius.

reports, including a formal statement from the Internet Service Providers’
Association (ISPA), the election process suffered from:

represent a serious threat to the legitimacy, transparency, and credibility
of the AFRINIC governance process.

We were surprised and
disappointed to learn that our organisation’s name — along with others in
Angola — may have been misused through fraudulent Powers of Attorney, without
our knowledge or approval.
We declare that:
AFRINIC plays a vital role in
the development and stability of the African Internet ecosystem. As such, its
internal processes must be above reproach. AAI reaffirms its commitment to fair
representation, transparency, and the rule of law in regional Internet
governance.
We urge all stakeholders to
act swiftly and responsibly to restore confidence in AFRINIC's operations.
